Abstract

The work discusses the information society under the conception of Michel Foucault's disciplinary society and the theoretical approach of Gilles Deleuze's society of control. Thereby, it aims to show how discipline, surveillance and control are manifested in the contemporary world wherein social relationships also occur in digital networks like the Internet. Understanding the information society as a synthesis of the disciplinary and control society, the work points to new social struggles around causes like privacy. In this regard, information and knowledge increasingly appear as power resources mobilized by the State, the market and the civil society in defense of their interests.
