Abstract

Peace speeches or peace treaties made with the indians are crucial elements for understanding the American frontier. This paper compares the agreements reached in Araucanía and la Pampa, analizing similarities and differences on the distinctive frontier scenarios, policies adopted by the colonial state and the indians living in the region.
