Abstract

Bearing in mind the fast spread of Septuaginta over the hellenistic influence area, we will try to discover how the topics and the terminology commonly used in the Greek apologetical literature will be recycled in the IV Book of Maccabees to make explicit to its audience its purposes and rhetoric intentions. The generic ‘translation’ will acquire entire status of new creation and so, consequently, will win a place, by its own right, in the sacred collection as in the antecedents of fruitful genres inside Christendom literary tradition.
