Interpolaciones en el texto de Petronio: F. Nodot y las traducciones del Satyricon

Abstract

El presente trabajo se propone desestimar la tradicional consideración de la interpolación como fraude, y sostener con R. J. Tarrant que se puede entender la interpolación correctamente si se la ve como una reescritura originada en la relación entre lectores y textos en diversas épocas. Se trabaja para ello con Petronio, Satyricon y con las traducciones de Walter Kelly (London 1854) y de Louis de Langle (Paris 1914), para mostrar un criterio de lectura que intenta “solucionar” la fragmentación del texto transmitido, y para evaluar las consecuencias que tales reescrituras tienen en la divulgación del texto.

The aim of this paper is to reject the traditional consideration of interpolation as forgery, and to support with R.J. Tarrant that an interpolation –such as the one of Nodot– can be correctly understood if it is seen as a rewriting originated in the relationship between readers and texts in different times. Petronio's Satyricon and two translations of it (Walter Kelly, London, 1854 and Louis de Langle, Paris, 1914) have been studied to develop a reading criterion that tries to ʺsolveʺ the fragmentary character of the transmited text, and to evaluate the consequences that such rewriting has when the text is published.
