Abstract

En este texto, el autor rememora las casi ocho décadas de amistad que mantuvo con
Ana María Barrenechea, una amistad errante que se desplegó, según sus propias
palabras, “aquí, allá y en todas partes”. De todos modos, en él no se recogen solamente
recuerdos meramente personales sino que estos le permiten al autor repasar
cómo la accidentada historia política argentina del siglo XX fue definiendo no solo
la biografía intelectual de Barrenechea –sus exilios y sus regresos- sino también, de
manera más general, los avatares de las instituciones consagradas a la enseñanza
terciaria o a la investigación en la Argentina, y entre ellas el Instituto de Filología y
Literaturas Hispánicas “Dr. Amado Alonso”.

Abstract

In this article, the author recalls the nearly eight decades of friendship he had with
Ana María Barrenechea, a wandering friendship unfolded, in his own words, “here,
there and everywhere.” Anyway, just merely personal memories are not included in
it, but these memories allow the author to review how the checkered political history
of Argentina in the 20th century has defined not only intellectual Barrenechea’s
biography –her exiles, her returns– but also, more generally, the vicissitudes of the
institutions engaged in tertiary education or in research in Argentina, among them
the Institute of Philology and Hispanic Literatures “Dr. Amado Alonso”.
