Abstract

The author compares the French idea of mise en scène, which suggests the passage from text to stage, and the English concept of performance, that emphasizes the production of an action during the very act of its utterance. Through different contemporary examples he evaluates the pros and cons of its synthesis, that is the concept of performise or mise en perf.
