Abstract

The subject of jettatura (maleficent influence) has been developed by two authors: the Argentine Gregorio de Laferrère and the Italian Luigi Pirandello in their Jettatore and La patente, respectively. This article analyzes not only the sad social consequences caused by the attribution of that power which brings evil to other persons but also the differences and the similarities between the two plays. The brilliant and sparkling spirit of the Laferrère's play and the pathetic tone of Pirandello's express their different concepction of life.
