Abstract

In this paper, I stress on the processes that give continuity to the otherness of a group with a migrant origin when it doesn’t receive more members from the homeland. Taking to de Lithuanian Community like an empirical referent, I carried out a research based on the ethnographic practice and the qualitative methodology. So I realized the importance of nationalism ideology when, re-created by an abroad community, it becomes a fundamental tool to create a social limit. In the second part, and like a participant in a Mapping about migrants and descendents in the Buenos Aires Province, I studied the sociodemographic and cultural features of the group from the inquiry in most of the Lithuanian people in the Province. Finally, I explored the similarity and the difference that appeared from the two ways to capturing the social world.
