During the past twenty years Colombia has witnessed a remarkably rapid and dynamic growth in air transport, heretofore unseen in its long history of aviation. This period coincides with the establishment and continuous implementation of public policy designed specifically for the air transport sector oriented along two well defined lines, on the one hand deregulation and liberalization of the industry and on the other hand privatization of airport infrastructure. For this reason this work aims to describe and analyse to what extent established and implemented public policy by Colombian institutions impacted to the recent development of the air transport industry.
